Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
City Scaffolding Cambridge (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, please contact us using the details at the end of this page.
Who We Are
City Scaffolding Cambridge is a scaffolding contractor based at 15 Providence Way, Waterbeach, Cambridge CB25 9QH, trading as a sole trader. For the purposes of data protection law, City Scaffolding Cambridge is the “data controller” of the personal information collected through this website.
What Information We Collect
We collect personal information in two ways:
Information you give us directly. When you submit an enquiry through the contact form on this website, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and the contents of your message to us.
Information collected automatically via cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website — for example, which pages are viewed and how people find the site. This is covered in full under “Cookies” below.
We do not currently run online advertising or use advertising/retargeting cookies.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide through the contact form only to:
Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote for our scaffolding services
Communicate with you about the work you’ve asked us to carry out
Keep a record of enquiries and jobs for our own business and accounting purposes
We use Google Analytics data only to understand and improve how the website performs — for example, which pages are popular and how visitors reach the site. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
We do not use your information for marketing unless you separately ask us to keep you updated, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.
Our legal basis for processing your contact form information is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and providing our services, and, where we go on to carry out work for you, the performance of a contract with you.
Our legal basis for using Google Analytics cookies is your consent, given via the cookie banner when you first visit the site.
Who We Share Your Information With
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We may share it with:
Service providers who help us run our business, such as our website hosting provider and email provider, who process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service to us
Google, via Google Analytics (see “Cookies” below) and Google reCAPTCHA, which we use to protect our contact form from spam and automated abuse
Authorities, where we are required to by law, for example to comply with a legal obligation or protect our rights
Google Analytics may process data outside the UK; where it does, Google provides appropriate legal safeguards for this transfer. You can read more in Google’s Privacy Policy.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep enquiry and contact information for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, carry out any work agreed, and meet our legal and accounting obligations (for example, UK tax law generally requires business records to be kept for at least six years). After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.
Google Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics account settings and Google’s own retention policies.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use the following types on this site:
Strictly necessary cookies. These are needed for the website to function correctly (for example, to remember that a form has been submitted). These don’t require consent and can’t be switched off.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics to see how visitors use our website — such as which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and how they found the site. This helps us understand what’s working and improve the site over time. These cookies are only set once you’ve given consent via the cookie banner shown when you first visit the site; if you decline or ignore the banner, Google Analytics will not run.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie settings link in the website footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
We do not currently use advertising or retargeting cookies.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information
- Erase your information, in certain circumstances
- Restrict or object to how we use your information, in certain circumstances
- Withdraw consent at any time for anything we rely on your consent for, such as Google Analytics cookies, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it
- Request a copy of your information in a portable format, in certain circumstances
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal information, you also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):
